President Obama Announces 54.5 mpg Fuel Efficiency Standard
Consumers will save $1.7 trillion at the pump, $8K per vehicle by 2025
WASHINGTON, DC – President Obama today announced an historic agreement with thirteen major automakers to pursue the next phase in the Administration’s national vehicle program, increasing fuel economy to 54.5 miles per gallon for cars and light-duty trucks by Model Year 2025. The President was joined by Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar/Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota and Volvo – which together account for over 90% of all vehicles sold in the United States – as well as the United Auto Workers (UAW), and the State of California, who were integral to developing this agreement. Electric vehicle workshop wows attendees
In July 2011, Philly Clean Cities hosted its 2nd annual electric vehicle workshop. The event was held with stakeholders PECO Energy and Dejana Truck Equipment as well as other sponsors. It featured presentations about the state of electric vehicles, EV charging infrastructure, fleet uses for EV’s, and vehicle-to-grid technologies (you can see presentations from the workshop in our Media page).
More than 100 people attended the event. Following the presentations, attendees were invited to participate in our infamous “Only Smoke in the Air” networking barbeque and test drive electric vehicles from Smith Electric Vehicles and General Motors.
This workshop is a signature event of Philly Clean Cities. Check out photos from the first workshop in 2010 below.
